I want to serve some files over HTTP, with directory listings. Bonus points if I can exclude certain filenames (.git). What do I use?

I want to be able to run it in a shell, without touching global config. nginx/apache are a bit overkill, caddy makes my specific use case awkward

@embr 1. install node. 2. npx http-server. done. no clutter, no temp files, no nothing.

@embr if you need to stop and start it a lot, install it with sudo npm i -g http-server and then you can quickly run http-server anywhere and stop it when you’re done.

@embr python has a simple http server: `python -m SimpleHTTPServer`
