The year is 2025

There are five browser cores:
- webkit
- chromium
- gecko
- servo
- youtube-dl, which ended up implementing a full-fledged browser in python to keep successfully downloading videos

So "Torvalds" is swedish for "Tech Tips", right?

nonbinary girls are prime marriage material tbh

In a world without capitalism, I'd love to teach people and organize information and help people learn about things they're interested in.

There wouldn't be grades or a set curriculum or homework, just people coming together to discuss ideas and learn new skills

We could figure out how to help people with all sorts of learning styles learn what they want to, and make information accessible to everyone

Just a cute squeaky Fluttershy by PonBalloon.

um, quick PSA for everybody. you should make sure you close the fridge when you takes things out of it otherwise the stuff in there will stop being cold. this is really important so please boost for visibility #lifehack #ourcheats #mastodev

For real like Bandcamp is exactly the kind of service we *hoped* the internet would give us: “hey, people make things, they set their own price inc. free, we provide the storefront, you buy it and the money goes to the creator, you get it in a DRM-free format and can play it however you want, we just make money to keep going & improving and aren’t a VC-funded nightmare company of rampant reckless growth that will do something nightmarish and implode.”

We need more media platforms like that.

Quote of the Day:
"If Iranian hackers wanna pull off some real big dick energy shit, wipe out US student loan debt. If the student loan debt is wiped, they will lose this as leverage to recruit for the military."

It's my birthday today! Can I get some boosts?

With an increasing number of companies announcing they're using RISC-V for things, an important thing to keep in mind:

Most companies will have a second source vendor that they use for pricing leverage, and to keep costs down on less critical designs

That is to say, in many of these announcements RISC-V is displacing MIPS

don't say you 'fucking love science' if you haven't opened AT LEAST ONE dimensional rift to a malicious plane of reality, quarantined the facility, and sent in a doomed team of military specialists to secure the situation

I'm honestly not crazy about the precedent set by Docker.

Yes, it's a technological marvel that we can now custom tune installations of things by giving Docker a set of instructions and having it automate everything, but this really *shouldn't* be necessary.

Developers should have usability in mind as a first principle, and if people have to fight to get it to work in common use-cases (i.e. running Plex off of a NAS), then the product is unfinished.

Docker enables laziness.

@cypnk The Elwro 800 Junior computer appears in the video. It is an example of how difficult it was to create something in Poland under the occupation of the USSR. Despite this, computers were produced in Poland, for example in the Elwro factory.
